Depression opens off US 19 at Curlew Road; closures in place
TRAFFIC ALERT: A depression opened in the roadway on U.S. 19 at Curlew Road in Pinellas County, prompting lane closures and repair work.

Palm Harbor Fire Rescue responded about 2:00 p.m. after a depression opened in the roadway. Traffic cameras showed crews on scene until the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) contractors arrived to assess and repair the damage.
Current closures
- Westbound Curlew Road is closed west of U.S. 19.
- Northbound U.S. 19 curb lane is closed near Curlew Road.
- Southbound U.S. 19 left-turn lane to Curlew Road is closed.
FDOT expects repairs and lane reopenings to be completed by midnight. Drivers traveling through the area are advised to seek alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
What officials are doing
Fire rescue crews initially secured the scene and remained on site until law enforcement and FDOT contractors arrived. FDOT crews are conducting repairs to stabilize the roadway and restore traffic flow.
